Teaching

1. Undergraduate students
a. Frontal teaching.
A 27 hours course during the 2nd academic year (American program - coordinator Dr. Pia Raanani) and a 70 hours course during the 3rd academic year (Israeli program - coordinator Prof. Chaim Kaplinsky and Dr. Pia Raanani) are conducted at the faculty of Medicine -Sackler School of Medicine. In addition, 4-6 hours teaching is conducted as part of the Biochemistry and Genetic courses.
b. Clerkship
Additional teaching in hematology for Israeli and American program students is provided as part of the Internal Medicine clerkship at 6 academic hospitals affiliated to TAU: (Assaf Harofeh Medical Center, Chaim Sheba Medical Center, Edith Wolfson Medical Cneter, Rabin Medical Center Campus Beilinson and Hasharon, Sapir Medical Center, Tel-Aviv Sourasky Medical Center)
c. Clinical program
Teaching of students to perform a systematic hematological examination, to learn to interpret the routine laboratory techniques and to evaluate peripheral and bone marrow smears. Teaching is aimed to fulfill the requirements of the syllabus of clinical practice in hematology. Students are also asked to prepare and discuss "Case Studies" (Problem Based Learning) which have been complied for them by the University. They are also encouraged to use the WebPath which is the computerized tutorial file for hematology students.
2. Postgraduate Education
We are in the process of organizing Post-Graduate courses for hematology residents from all around the country. In addition, a Tele- Medicine course in hematology has been launched since last year as part of the Tele-Medicine for Internal Medicine residents all over the country.
