UNDERGRADUATE - ISRAELI PROGRAM

Family Medicine is a required clerkship. Students are attached to the practice of a clinical preceptor on a one-to-one basis. A final examination is given at the end of the clerkship

Diploma Course - "Family Medicine"
Duration: A six semester course meeting 5 hours weekly.
Participants: Residents in family medicine (Coordinators - Drs C Zelzer, F Turetsky) and non-specialist general practitioners (Coordinator - Dr G Shapiro( Teaching Methods: Mainly small group teaching with lectures for selected topics.
Requirements: Attendance at sessions, projects , examinations and assessments.
On conclusion the participants receive the Diploma in Family Medicine and merit points from the Israel Medical Association - Scientific Council.
Diploma Course "The Body and the Mind in the Work of the Expert Physician" in conjunction with the Psychotherapy Program (coordinator - Dr A Matalon)
Masters Program:
A Masters Degree in Family Medicine is offered and requires attendance at courses in research methods, and submission of a research thesis
Continuing Medical Education (C.M.E) (coordinator - Dr Z Imber)
Types of Course. Weekly, fortnightly or monthly courses each session of two to three hours.
Participants: Separate groups of residents and specialists in family medicine, and non specialist general practitioners.
Teaching Methods : Group discussions, Journal Clubs
Requirements: Attendance at meetings On completion of the course participants receive a certificate of recognition from the School of Continuing Medicine of Tel-Aviv University and merit points from the Israel Medical Association - Scientific Council.
Distance Learning (coordinator - Drs S Nakar, A Ronen)
CME course for General Practitioners in clinical and other core subjects in Primary Care Medicine (Practice Management,Communication skills,Preventive Medicine etc.) have been offered since 2001
Course in Ambulatory Care for Military Physicians - (coordinator, Dr M Maram)
Advanced Studies
Course Structure: 4-hour weekly meetings lasting one semester or longer.
Participants: Doctors with a diploma in family medicine.
Topics: 1997 -> Advanced course in orthopedics for family doctors.
Teaching Methods: Lectures and discussions
Requirements: Attendance at sessions plus an examination. Successful participants will receive a certificate of recognition from the School of Continuing Education of Tel-Aviv University and merit points from the Israel Medical Association - Scientific Council.
