Introduction

The dermatology section is responsible for several activities in the realm of teaching concerning medical students, residents and board certified specialists in dermatology.

1. All the medical students belonging to Sackler School of Medicine 6th academic year undertake a clerkship in a dermatology department for 2 weeks in 3 Academic Hospitals affiliated to TAU (Tel-Aviv Medical Center, Rabin Medical Center- Beilinson campus, Sheba Medical Center).

In addition students from other medical schools in Israel, American students from Sackler as well as foreign students are allowed to do an Elective (2,3 or 4 weeks) at the same departments.

2. The dermatology section is responsible for post-graduate teaching at the medical school. The head of the section together with the coordinator choose one or several subjects for the academic year.

The post-graduate teaching is located at Sackler School of Medicine every 2nd Wednesday from 14.00 p.m. to 18.00 p.m.

Physicians who attend the post-graduate teaching are residents from different hospitals as well as specialists from the community (Maccabi Health Fund recognizes these studies as part of their post-graduate training).

3. The dermatological section together with the Israeli Association of Dermatologists organizes a monthly meeting (on Fridays) in different hospitals.

During these meetings clinical cases are presented by residents and followed by an in-depth discussion of each case.

4. The dermatological section organizes meetings every 3 months at Rabin, Tel-Aviv and Sheba Medical Centers.

During these meetings studies are presented or special subjects are discussed. Residents as well as faculty physicians attend these meetings.

5. The annual meeting of Israeli Dermatologists takes place in comjunction with the Israeli Association of dermatology.

During this meeting studies as well as case reports and posters are presented.

Special guest lecturers (from Israel and from abroad) are invited to the meeting.

This meeting usually occurs in the month of June for 2 days (Wednesday and Thursday).
